Renewal

By Tan Choon Hong

Acrylic on canvas

The artist came across a bamboo grove at Mt Faber Park and saw bamboo shoots sprouting around the mature plants, which got him thinking about the cycle of life. Emerging bamboo shoots herald the renewal of life, as the old tree provides shade and nourishment with its fallen leaves. The artist says, “Life is full of ups and downs, so I decided to do a little ‘philosophising’ through abstract expressionism.”
